Independent work at home is a very important part of all our student’s development at Oak Tree High School. Learning beyond the school day allows students to develop skills, attitudes and extend their knowledge. It is a crucial tool for reinforcing knowledge and understanding.

Homework is a major contributor to the development of our students self-motivation, organisational skills, resilience and responsibility. We believe that all students, regardless of age, ability and aptitude, benefit from a structured routine for independent learning. Ultimately, the development of self-discipline and organisational skills will prepare our students for demands of adult life.

We will endeavour to inform parents/carers when a student misses homework, or if their work does not meet the standard they are capable of.

If you have any queries about homework, please do not hesitate to contact the subject teacher. If your concerns are wider than one subject area, please contact your child’s Form Tutor.
